Although I missed the presentation of objects – why not present it here for a special audience. My personal object I was going to bring in was my grandmother’s ring. Her name was Kit Kanter. She was the wife to the famous producer, and movie star agent: Jay Kanter. He represented big names in the industry such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Marlon Brando.
She purchased this gold ring on a trip to Venice, Italy. She was in Venice because my grandfather had been invited to the premier of the movie ‘Farenheit 451’ – (which he had produced). She haggled for this ring on the canals, and in return she could engrave it, so inside of the ring is written ‘Kit’.
This object reminds me of home. I may be American, but I truly affiliate myself with Hollywood culture, as that is what I was raised in. I touch the ring when I’m stressed. I never take it off, unless I have to. It motivates me, and reminds me of what I’m doing and why I moved across the world to do what I love.
